Marcus Mariota’s once supernova star status seems to be dimming a bit in Tennessee. Some fans are grumbling after Mariota’s shaky performance and injury in the Titans loss in Week 1. Mariota needs a bounce-back performance when the Titans face the Houston Texans in a AFC South contest on Sunday (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, CBS, DirecTV or try FuboTV (free trial).
You can also watch the live stream of the game on cbs.com/all-access, verizonwireless.com, playstationvue, AppleTV, and SlingTV.
Mariota struggled again in the Titans 27-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He completed 9-of-16 passes for 103 yards, but he threw interceptions on back-to-back plays after sustaining an elbow injury. Mariota is expected to play when the Titans (0-1) face the Texans, but he needs a solid performance and the Titans need to win to avoid potentially falling two games behind first-place Jacksonville.
Mariota posted his worst season as a pro in 2017, throwing a career-high 15 interceptions. His accuracy was inconsistent, and those same issues surfaced again in the loss to the Dolphins.
The loss to the Dolphins can’t be laid at Mariota’s feet. The Titans receivers produced inconsistent performances and Mariota’s favorite target, tight end Delanie Walker, suffered a season-ending broken ankle in the game.
The Texans (0-1) are looking for quarterback Deshaun Watson to improve after he had a shaky outing in the loss to the New England Patriots. Watson completed just 50 percent of passes (17-of-34, 176 yards, one touchdown pass, one interception) against the Patriots and looked indecisive throughout the game.
Watson, who fumbled a handoff to running back Lamar Miller on the first play from scrimmage, seemed to gain more confidence and grew more comfortable as the game continued.

The Patriots and Jaguars both sit at 1-0 after knocking off the Houston Texans and New York Giants, respectively, in Week 1, and players on both sides have said they expect this early-season matchup to have a playoff-type atmosphere. Jacksonville returned 10 of 11 starters from last season’s suffocating defense, but they could be without star running back Leonard Fournette, who will be a game-time decision as he nurses a hamstring injury. The Jaguars promoted running back Brandon Wilds from the practice squad Saturday, putting Fournette’s status further in doubt. The Patriots, meanwhile, have two running backs dealing with injuries, as Rex Burkhead (concussion) and Sony Michel (knee) both are listed as questionable. New England did not add an additional back to its 53-man roster this weekend, however, which strongly suggests Burkhead, Michel or both will play today. This would be Michel’s NFL debut, as the first-round draft pick sat out the entire preseason and Week 1. Patriots right tackle Marcus Cannon and cornerback Keion Crossen have been ruled out for the Patriots. LaAdrian Waddle will start inCannon’s place, with Cole Croston serving as the team’s lone backup tackle after being elevated from the practice squad Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET. Giants at Cowboys OddsShark Matchup Report
The Cowboys were held in check on offense for most of the day last Sunday on the road against the Carolina Panthers, failing to score in the first three quarters of the game and ending the day with just eight points and 232 total yards.
Dallas ended the 2017 season on a 4-1 SU and 3-1-1 ATS run, but the momentum of that finish does not seem to have carried over as the Cowboys went 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS during the preseason and limped out of the gate against Carolina.
This head-to-head rivalry has been tilted in Dallas’ direction over the last five years. The Cowboys are 7-3 SU and 5-4-1 ATS in their last 10 games against the Giants per the OddsShark NFL Database.
New York Giants
Saquon Barkley rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut, but it wasn’t enough to help the Giants who fell 20-15 to the Jacksonville Jaguars at home. With the loss, the Giants fell to 3-15 SU and 7-11 ATS over their last 18 games.
New York safety Landon Collins threw down the gauntlet this week in the media saying that the Giants were going to load up the box to stop Ezekiel Elliott and would force Dak Prescott to beat them. New York is 2-9 SU and 3-7-1 ATS in its last 11 divisional road games.
Sunday night’s total is set at 42.5 points. The UNDER is 5-0 in Dallas’ last five games, 7-1 in New York’s last eight and 4-0 in the last four between these two teams.
Since 2007, only 11% of the teams that have started the season off 0-2 SU have gone on to make the postseason. With both the Giants and Cowboys entering this game at 0-1, only the winner will be able to avoid the 0-2 fate in 2018.

Jaguars vs. Patriots: Prediction, preview, time, channel, statistics to know for AFC title game rematch
From backfield injuries to fascinating receiving matchups, the Patriots-Jaguars showdown should be a fun one
mugshot by Jared Dubin
1h ago • 8 min read
Not all that long ago, the surprising Jacksonville Jaguars held a double-digit second half lead over the then-defending champion New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. Blake Bortles and company looked like they were on their way to the Super Bowl, and then the Patriots did what they always do. They stormed back into the game by out-executing their opponents, and taking advantage of every single mistake the other team made.
One such mistake the Jags made was not being aggressive enough offensively, while another was letting Brady sit relatively unhurried in the pocket and pick out receivers to whom he could throw the ball. Eventually, he made just enough plays to win, and the Pats got to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
Eight months later, New England is again the heavy favorite to play into February. The Jaguars are in that mix as well, and largely for the same reason they wound up there last year: their defense is just that good. Bortles is throwing to a depleted crop of receivers this year compared to last, and while the offensive line is improved, there’s no real expectation that the Jags will field an above-average offense. Instead, it’s all about ball control, grinding the clock, and punishing the opposing offense.
That’s the typical strategy against a Patriots machine that has shown it can out-gun even the best defenses, though, so New England will be well-prepared to handle whatever the Jaguars throw at them in the rematch (4:25 p.m., CBS). This is one of the marquee games of Week 2’s Sunday slate, and it should be exciting to see how it all shakes out.
When the Jaguars have the ball
First things first: we do not yet know if Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette will suit up for this game. Fournette suffered a hamstring injury during the Jaguars’ Week 1 win over the Giants and has practiced on only a limited basis so far this week. He referred to himself Thursday as a game-time decision.

Broncos vs. Raiders: Five questions about Oakland
by Tylor Walden11 hours agoFollow @tyflyguy15
The Denver Broncos welcome their AFC West rivals the Oakland Raiders this week. I sat down with Brad Weiss from Just Blog Baby and get his takes on Oakland.
The first AFC West rival comes to Denver for an early season matchup. The Denver Broncos welcome the Oakland Raiders for their first divisional matchup of the 2018 season. Both teams split the season series last season.
Denver got a hard-fought win at home while Oakland came away with a seven-point victory later in the season.
This rivalry dates to the old AFL times. And it continues to grow. However, it has not been much of a rivalry as of late. The Broncos have won ten of the last thirteen meetings. A certain future Hall of Fame quarterback might have played a big part in that. Oakland has made things interesting in the last three years.
Seeing how both teams in their season openers, it would appear as if the Denver Broncos have the edge. But when it comes to divisional rivals, anything can happen. It should be a fun game.
With that said, it is time for another segment of Behind Enemy Lines. This week, I have Brad Weiss from Just Blog Baby, which is the Oakland Raiders FanSided site.
I asked him a few questions about the Oakland Raiders as well as what he believes will happen on Sunday.
The Raiders have brought back Jon Gruden as their head coach. What do you believe he can bring to the team after being out of the NFL for so long?

Denver Broncos Cutter & Buck Vintage DryTec Northgate Polo – Royal
One of the key weaknesses during the Raiders six-win season a year ago was their coaching, as the team looked out-schemed every single week. The one thing Gruden can bring to the Raiders is preparation and a good game plan, which we saw during the first half of their loss on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams.
Monday was game one of a possible 10-year relationship, and the Raiders were tied with the Rams with under three minutes left in the third quarterback. They had a better game plan than we have seen from the team in a long time, and as the season wears on, the team will continue to get comfortable with what Gruden is trying to do.
The biggest offseason move was that the team traded Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears. In your opinion, was there a reason that Oakland did not make any attempt to hold on to him? Was it more Mack not showing up? And how much will that impact the Raiders defense?
All summer long the team talked about bringing Mack back, though there was really no dialogue between the two sides. Gruden told Lisa Salters leading up to Monday Night Football that Mack did not want to be there, and did not expect him to be back, so they had to make the move to trade him.
We saw on Monday night the effect not having Mack has on this defense, as the Raiders had only five pressures the entire game. They got no push up front, and him leaving is really a shame because the Raiders did bring in talent at defensive tackle to help take the pressure off him this season. With the current personnel, the Raiders have to find a way to get some kind of pass rush, or it will be a long season.
The Raiders lost their season opener to the Rams on Monday. What is something that you hope the team can improve on for next week?
The Raiders need to do two things if they hope to turn this thing around, and they better do them in a hurry. First, the pass rush, as we mentioned earlier they got absolutely none against the Rams. They tried to bring in different people, and move guys to the edge during the game, but nothing seemed to work.
The second is Derek Carr needs to be better, and they have to take shots downfield. Carr did not resemble the guy who nearly won an MVP two years ago, and looked jittery in the pocket. That led to many short throws, leading to a big night from tight end Jared Cook, but only three combined catches from Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson.
The Raiders travel to Denver to play the Broncos on Sunday. What is going to be the key to getting a win in what has been known as a tough place to play?
The Broncos have beaten the Raiders ten times in the last 13 times they have played, so it has been a tough ride no matter where they play. In order to beat the Broncos, they are going to have to get pressure on Case Keenum, who, as we saw last week, does have a tendency to turn the ball over.
Denver has a great pass rush, so it will be interesting to see how the Raiders combat that for the second straight week. Carr and the offense has to take shots down field, because if they continue to dink and dunk, they are going to have a hard time moving the ball against the Broncos on Sunday.

Raiders VS Broncos Live
Get live updates, news and analysis as the Raiders try to rebound from a rough season opener when they take on their AFC West rival Broncos on Sunday at 1:25 p.m. in Denver.
Derek Carr hopes for better results than a week ago — and a year ago. The Raiders quarterback suffered a transverse process fracture against Denver last October, which helped derail Oakland’s season. He’d also like to forget about the three interceptions he threw in Monday night’s 33-13 loss to the Rams.
Coach Jon Gruden’s squad got half the job done during Monday’s opener, but its 13-10 halftime lead dissolved during a 33-13 loss to the Rams on Monday night. Marshawn Lynch went “Beast Mode” on a 10-yard run for Oakland’s only touchdown.
The new-look Broncos are coming off a 27-24 season-opening win over the Seahawks, a game in which Case Keenum threw three touchdown passes in his Denver debut. Keenum went 25-for-39 for 329 yards but also was picked off three times. Emmanuel Sanders was Keenum’s favorite target, grabbing 10 passes for 135 yards and a score against Seattle.
The Raiders will also see a familiar face in their former punter, Marquette King, who was released by the Gruden regime before training camp.

Live updates: 49ers vs. Lions on Sunday afternoon
By JON BECKER | email@example.com | Bay Area News Group

Get scoring updates, news and analysis on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. as the 49ers look to rebound from a season-opening loss when they host the Detroit Lions at Levi’s Stadium.
Jimmy Garoppolo is human, after all. After winning his first seven NFL starts, Garoppolo had his worst game as a 49er in the 24-16 loss to the Vikings last Sunday. He completed just 15-of-33 passes and threw three interceptions.
He has a good shot of atoning at home as the Lions come in after perhaps the worst season-opening performance of any team. Detroit gave up 31 unanswered points in the third quarter in Matt Patricia’s first game as head coach and the Lions were booed at home on their way to a 48-17 loss to the Jets.
History says things won’t get much easier as the Lions, who have lost 12 straight games to the 49ers in the Bay Area. The last time Detroit beat the 49ers in these parts was in 1975 when Steve Spurrier was San Francisco’s starting quarterback.
The Lions are hoping their first game at Levi’s bucks their Bay Area trend.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had an even worse start last week as he threw an NFL-high four interceptions in Detroit’s loss.
This will be the second of linebacker Reuben Foster’s two-game suspension for the 49ers.
